UNIX Administration

Installation of Sun & IBM servers
Upgrade of OS and application patches to current level
Copy data and test alternate boot disk
Installation of UDB server & client; creation of UBD instances
Creation of DNS entries for new systems
Assistance in WebSphere installation
Installation of Vertitas File Systems, configuration of disk groups and volumes
Implementaion persistent binding on UNIX servers for EMC Symmetrix, configuration of EMC disks

AIX Administration

Installation & customization of AIX stand alone, SP frame nodes, LPAR partition servers with 5.1 & 5.2
Installation of UDB EEE, UDB Client ,WebSphere 5.x, ECC, MQSeries, Cognos, IBM HTTP Server 1.3.19.4, HP Openview on AIX 5.1
Involving with third level support team to resolve some performance issues on production boxes.
Doing the upgrades of AIX boxes from 4.3 to 5.1.
Upgrades of EMC powerpath, ODM, Microcode (HBA) levels on both AIX 4.3.3 and AIX 5.1 boxes
Doing the migrations of AIX servers from old EMC disks to new EMC. (SRDF migration).
Completed a SP frame-to-frame, server-to-server migration.
Involved in a SP based host-to-host migration.
Installation and configuration of HACMP 4.4.1 for 2 node cascading, rotating clusters.
Configured NIM Master, client machines for Network installations.
Installed Teamquest software for performance monitoring on AIX 5.1
Upgraded AIX old boxes from 32-bit kernel to 64-bit kernel.
Involved with network team to resolve network based problems.

NT System Installation & Administration

Level 3 Support on 210 Plus Windows NT/2000/2003
Installation of servers across multiple NAFTA locations
Benchmarking, certification and customization of servers to corporate standard on Compaq/HP and IBM Hardware Platforms for Microsoft & Linux Server Products
Configuration for cluster services on NT/2000 Servers (H/W Compaq/HP Proliant, Dell Poweredge , IBM E, X series servers)
Certification of storage systems including EMC, Xiotech, Compaq & Hitachi
Design of cluster, IP load balancing, and Compaq/HP standby recovery solutions to internal customers
Support of several Windows NT terminal servers 4.0, Windows 2000 servers and advanced servers with terminal services enabled for application mode
Development of enterprise management strategies
Development of support/administration documentation to Level II support personnel
Administration of Red Hat and Suse Linux on HP/IBM hardware
Certification of Linux server platform
Development of Tivoli to HP Open View migration
Evaluation of Blade server technology
Development of server support documentation for Linux server platform
Certification of Windows 2003 server products
Development of server support documentation for Windows 2003 server platform

Server Administration & Upgrades

Coordination of activities for all DCX server customizations (multiple platforms) and production support requests (upgrades / patches / software loads / etc.)
Management of activities of 13 Senior Team Members: System Administrators & Server Customization Team.
Coordination of Level 2 & 3 IT production support, application support and planning
Review of current processes and procedures in order to identify areas needing improvement
Identification and implementation of new processes to promote cost savings
Management of gathering and analyzing data associated with installation and customization
Maintenance and distribution of Division Manager reports and graphs
Maintenance and distribution of multiple server customization status reports and graphs
Loading of CDs, plugs in network and SAN cables as needed
Maintenance of SAN and server documentation by platform within NAFTA db
Management of documents supplier personnel issues
Maintenance of confidential data
Support of all Veritas requests
Support of data center facilities - Cabinet Assignment Requests / Power Requests

Solaris Support - Level 3

Environment:

1200 SUN servers, SAN, sun cluster, Solaris, Sybase, IBM Websphere, Apache, UDB, MQ series, Exceed, Veritas Volume Manager, Solstice Suite, Lotus Notes

Problem analysis, trouble shooting, resolution and documentation
On-call support for UNIX with hot pagers - depending on severity levels taking appropriate actions, joining the bridge, if any, and working with other groups to fix the issues and reducing the downtime.
Fine tuning the kernel parameters for Sybase/UDB applications
Installation, configuration and support for Websphere, Interwoven and other third party software
User management, security management, resource management, performance tuning and analysis of sar,vmstat, iostat, netstat and prstat and other UNIX tools
Management of issues with vendors and product support groups
Analysis of new products, technological improvements that would benefit the client’s business
Participation in technical discussions with work groups
Control of patch adding or removing and trouble shooting
Configuration of DNS, trouble shooting the issues of DNS issues and network issues
