Synergy Provides Warranty Management System, Reporting Capabilities and More for Global Manufacturer of Mining and Construction Equipment.

New system to improve workflow, BI, cost management and product design

June 3,2011 – (Bingham Farms, MI) – One of the world’s largest manufacturers of mining and construction equipment needed a better system for managing warranty data. The company first started operating in 1921 in Tokyo, Japan, and since has become an industry leader employing thousands of workers at facilities around the world. Its product line includes hydraulic excavators, wheel loaders, crawler dozers, off-highway trucks, motor graders, skid steer loaders, tractor loaders and backhoe loaders.
The client required a Business Process Management (BPM) workflow-based system that would not only centralize and organize existing data, but also accept and assimilate new data, create a variety of comprehensive reports, and generate automatic e-mail reminders related to warranty dates and claims.
The Synergy project team is in the process of providing the total, end-to-end solution including a complex workflow application. The team started by making a detailed statistical business analysis of the current system. Next, user requirements were documented to provide the foundation for the new system’s design and function.

This is a multiphase project. The preliminary phase of this project involved designing and installing the infrastructure that would support the solution. All applications are being built from scratch, with six modules to be delivered in separate phases. Four of the six modules have been completed. Two of the four are now in production, while the other two are being tested. The entire solution is on track for being delivered on time and within budget.

Technologies being used in the creation of the solutions include K2 BlackPoint, InfoPath 2007, and SharePoint 2007. These robust tools can be quickly configured without the need for custom code, saving the client time and money.
This project represents the type of work that Synergy consultants have been providing to some of the world’s largest manufacturers for over sixteen years.
